HASTINGS, Neb. — On November 20th at 5 p.m., the annual Celebration of Lights took place in downtown Hastings. This event is a long-standing tradition, giving families a chance to enjoy the evening and get into the holiday spirit.
The Celebration of Lights offered holiday-themed activities for both adults and kids to enjoy. The event also provided food, shopping experiences, live entertainment, and Christmas-themed music.
Hastings College student Karen Navarrete shared her experience, “The lighting of downtown is such a fun night to hang out with friends and immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit! It’s truly a joyous event!”
Shannon Landauer, executive director of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce, helps organize this event for many locals to come together and celebrate the holidays. Shannon makes this event possible for Hastings and does it through the help of the community!
Many organizations in Hastings also poured time and effort into making the event possible. It is a meaningful experience for families and students alike. “I really loved the Celebration of Lights and had a great time, said Hastings College Junior Tyesha Tynes. “it’s a super great way for the community to come together for the holiday season!”
When the lights were finally lit, everyone applauded and shared laughter and smiles.
