Whether he’s galloping around the field at Lloyd Wilson, leading chants at the Lynn Farrell Arena or making surprise appearances around the community, Bosco the Bronco brings spirit everywhere he goes. He’s a symbol of pride and tradition at Hastings College.
Remaining anonymous, the individuals who bring Bosco to life dedicate themselves to various tasks. Bosco appears at athletic and admission events as well as making appearances around the entire community.
Bosco said, “One of my favorite events that I’ve gone to was the Lighting of Downtown.”
He represents not only athletic teams but the entire HC community.
Hope Holcomb, a sophomore from Omaha, said “I love seeing Bosco at events here on campus. He brings the best energy.”
Bosco plays an important role in shaping the game day experience and bringing school pride everywhere he goes. However, this isn’t a simple task.
Bosco said, “Before games, I make sure that I’m super hydrated and trust in my footing, it’s important that I stay committed to the task because it’s not easy.”
Though being Bosco requires a lot of commitment and dedication as HC continues to grow, Bosco remains a constant, embodying the enthusiasm of the school.
Bosco said that his favorite part of his job is “all of the kids that are so excited to see me and getting to see all of my friends in costume.”
No matter the occasion, Bosco will continue to inspire students and community members alike, ensuring that the Bronco spirit never fades.
