Have you ever wondered what a typical day looks like for Hastings College students juggling academics, athletics, and social life?  Every student’s day looks different from one another, especially with various classes, majors, athletics, or even part-time work. This article will examine three different Hastings College sophomore students’ daily routine from their day in life videos: Kamerin Turner from Elkhorn, Nebraska, Karen Navarrete from Hastings, Nebraska, and Norah Stewart from Lincoln, Nebraska.

The first sophomore, Kamerin Turner, is a track athlete and an elementary and special education major from Elkhorn, Nebraska. Turner starts off her morning around 9:20 A.M. by brushing her teeth, washing her face and doing her hair and makeup. Before heading to her first class, she eats avocado toast for breakfast. Her first class is Introduction to Theatre, at 10:20 A.M. After class, she returns to her apartment to eat lunch, and then she heads to Introduction to Psychology class at 12:20 P.M. After class, she gets ready for track practice that starts at 4:15 P.M. and finishes at 5:20 P.M. “My favorite part of my day is definitely track practice,” Turner expressed. After track practice, her and her roommate make dinner and then relax by watching Dancing with the stars before heading to a campus event called Grocery Bag Bingo at 8:00 P.M.  After Grocery Bag Bingo, her and roommates relax and finish up Dancing with the Stars. Turner winds down her day around 10:15 P.M. by showering and brushing her teeth before going to bed at 10:45 P.M.

The second sophomore, Karen Navarrete, is a biology major from Hastings, Nebraska. Navarrete starts her day early, driving to campus around 7:45 A.M. for her at 8:00 A.M Organic Chemistry class. After class, Navarrete heads to the local coffee shop to study and get some work done until 10:00 A.M. On Tuesdays, Navarrete volunteers at the Catholic Social Services (CSS) thrift store from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Then after she volunteers, Navarrete heads to her Entrepreneurial Opportunities class at 12:20 P.M. After classes Navarrete likes to unwind by walking her dog for an hour. In the evening, she heads to Perkins library on campus from 7:30 P.M. to 10 P.M. to study and complete homework. Navarrete’s favorite part of her day is,“ walking my dog,” she said, “because it allows me to get outside and relax from everything. I just pop in my headphones and start walking.”

The third student, Norah Stewart, is a biology major and soccer athlete from Lincoln, Nebraska. Stewart starts her morning around 7:25 A.M., starts getting ready for the day, and eats a healthy breakfast before heading to her 8:00 A.M. class. After class, she meets her friend Claire at Bronco Blend, then heads back to the apartment to relax and watch “Dancing with the Stars.” After she relaxes a bit, she goes to lunch in the cafe at 11:45 A.M., then attends the Programming Board meeting at 12:15 P.M. Keyah Huhn and Stewart give a campus tour to a future Bronco at 1:00 P.M. Stweart’s afternoon starts at 4:00 P.M when she watches a film of a soccer game. After the film, she attends the men’s soccer game at 5:30 P.M. to cheer on the team. After the men’s game, Stewart heads out to the field to play in the women’s soccer game which starts at 8:00 P.M. “The favorite part of my day is getting to play in my soccer game,” Stewart said.
