Meet Mr. William: A New Face in the Theater Department

Sarah Lechman

Hastings College is excited to welcome Mr. William, a new addition to the theater department. He currently teaches Fundamentals of Acting and brings with him over two decades of experience in theater education.

Mr. William has a whirlwind backstory. He was offered the position on August 5th, moved to Hastings just five days later, and began teaching on August 14th. At first, he left his wife back home, but once he got settled, she joined him here in Hastings.

With 23 years of teaching experience, Mr. William is passionate about his craft. He attended the University of Alabama, where he earned a degree in fine arts. When asked what drew him to Hastings College, he said, “The smaller education and smaller class sizes are what I prefer.” He went on to explain that during his own college years, class sizes often exceeded 200 students, and he felt like just a number. At Hastings, he appreciates the opportunity to truly connect with students and understand how they learn best.

When it comes to supporting his students, Mr. William believes in “asking and listening.” He understands that it can be difficult for students to express how they learn best, so he strives to be adaptable and supportive. “All students are different in their own ways,” Williams said. “Being willing to teach students in all different ways to help them succeed is all that I want to do.”

As for how he feels about being a Hastings Bronco, Mr. William’s response was simple: “I love it.” He appreciates the close-knit campus, the supportive town of Hastings, and the kindness and respect shown by the students.

Mr. William is already making a great impact here, and we’re lucky to have him as part of the Bronco family.
