Hastings College presents: The Christmas Star

Hastings College wrapped up its run of an original production called The Christmas Star on Sunday. The production featured many of the theater department’s talented actors, and served as a learning experience for those in the theater honorary, Alpha Psi Omega (APO). Part of the run of this show involved going on a short tour around Hastings to various small businesses and elementary schools. The show attracted many area families and provided a source of entertainment and Christmas cheer in the local community.

Noah Sullivan, a senior history major and member of APO, was the leader of the set crew for this show. “This show has made me better at delegating, and knowing my knowledge gaps and how they fit into other people’s strengths,” Sullivan said.

Jill Waite is a teacher at Adams Central— one of the stops on the choir tour. On the impact the show had on her students, she said, “It showed our students what amazing things are happening at Hastings College and what talented students Hastings College has. Hopefully it will make them want to be in the theater someday… I think they loved the interaction and all of the antics the kid characters were doing in the play.”

The show even correlated to modeling behaviors that teachers want to instill in their students. “We are always trying to promote teamwork and working together. We also try to teach our kids to show kindness and accept others for who they are,” Waite said.
